The three-day celebration of the 17th Monterrei Wine Fair, which will include musical, cultural and wine activities for all audiences, is 24 hours away.
The main activity will be the traditional fair that will be held in the Alameda square, and this edition will be present a total of 19 of the 29 wineries that make up the name (Bodega Ladairo, Gargalo, Valderello, Crego e Monaguillo, Quinta do Buble, Terras do Cigarron, Triay, Adega Tapias Mariñán, Fragas do Lecer, Via Arxentea, Bodega Abeledos S.L., Setembro, Bodega Franco Basalo, Adegas Daniel Fernandez, Adega Trasdovento, Adega Quinta Soutullo, Manuel Vázquez, Serra de Alén and Ramón Bigotes).
The opening hours of the stands will be as follows: Friday from 19.30 to 24.00 h. (advance sale from 19.00 hours), Saturday 10 from 12.30 to 14.30 h. and from 19.30 to 01.00 h., and Sunday 11 from 12.30 to 14.30 h and 19.30 to 24.00 h. And prices for 5 tastings for ten euros and a personalized glass of D.O. for two euros.
In addition to the wineries’ stands, there will be food stalls for all tastes (La Alacena para llevar, Panadería Roscas, Cárnicas de Feces, Matilde Waffles e Gelados, Alacena-Puebla de Sanabria, Jamones Don Francisco, Conservas Regiomare, Queiseria Gaia, Xavier dos Leitões and Casa do Pulpo).
The opening of the XVII Fair Wine of Monterrei will take place tomorrow 09 August, from 20 hours, in Plaza García Barbón, and the announcement will be made by agricultural engineer Xosé Paz Paz. However, at 18.30 hours, will be held in the Parish Church of Verín, the act of medal-giving of the Brotherhood of Wines of Monterrei. This time it will be Domingo Rodríguez Villar, Floriano Barreira Santos, José Luis Suárez Conde, Alfonso Villarino Rodríguez and Álvaro Bueno Eléxpuru. Admission is free until capacity is reached.
Already in the days of 10 and 11 August, will be held commented tastings and showcookings, for adults, as well as popular children’s games. Are planned ‘Elaboraciones, variedades y suelos de la D.O. Monterrei” (at 13 hours on Saturday, by David Pascual, president of the Galega Association of Enoloxía), ‘Symphony of flavors: harmony of wines of Monterrei, gastronomy and music’ (with the participation of Begoña Vázquez -O Regueiro da Cova-, Miguel López -technical director of the C.R.D.O. Monterrei- and José Manuel Salgado -professor at the CMUS Verín. It will be also on Saturday, but already at 8 pm. And the last one will be ‘El Godello: tipicidad y misterios del rey de los blancos’, on Sunday at 13:00 (given by Juanjo Figueroa, president of the Asociación Galega de Sumilleres – AGASU).
