The City of Verín will collaborate with the Denomination of Origin Monterrei with the installation in the Plaza García Barbón of a giant mural with its new promotional image, the campaign «Time of godello, time of Monterrei». During the months of the campaign, this initiative guarantees the achievement of more than 30,000 impacts, with which the verinense institution wants to collaborate with a fundamental sector in the region, of which it is a participant aspires to be its main showcase.
As a member of the Monterrei Wine Route and regional capital, the City of Verín collaborates since its creation with the Monterrei Designation of Origin, with initiatives as important as the Wine Fair. Recognizing the fundamental role of viticulture in the region, and the decisive moment in which it finds itself, «in a period of great recognition and expansion», said the mayor, Gerardo Seoane, «we want to help with all our power of regional showcase to the diffusion of all the initiatives that contribute to making known that we are a power in the world of wine». «From the City Council we want to recognize the good time that the wines of Monterrei live, that as a vital economic sector for the region always had our support, as can not be otherwise, and that among all we must revitalize even more», said the alderman.
Verín, as the administrative and service hub of the region, has great potential «in strengthening our own image, perception and self-esteem of the Denomination of Origin Monterrei among ourselves», said Jonatás Gago, president of the D.O. Monterrei, «as one of the wine territories with the greatest projection of Galicia and Spain», so we have to make «a qualitative leap with news and more powerful communication campaigns».
New positioning as one of the highest quality wines
«Godello time, Monterrei time» and the new advertising bet of the D.O. Monterrei, with which it seeks to place its flagship grape in the head of the consumer and reinforce its identification with a unique territory. In order to impact both the restoration channel and the final consumer, the Regulatory Council of the D.O. Monterrei has made a strong commitment to the presence in traditional high-impact media, as billboards and train stations major Galician cities, and also in the most current digital media, among them, a new type of advertising, innovative and groundbreaking, which will take the D.O. Monterrei to Mediaset and Antena 3: the connected TV format.
«We are looking for a new positioning of Monterrei as one of the highest quality Galician wines», said Jonatás Gago, «and for link we have to start with the house, for our territory, with a self-perception according to these quality parameters». In this sense it has announced the upcoming deployment of a battery of initiatives of formation and dissemination of the own oenological culture, to begin «to work and take care of the base of one of the territories of greater projection today of the European viticulture».
In this sense, the mayor of Verín has announced the upcoming signing of a collaboration agreement with the D.O. Monterrei to serve as a framework for all these promotional actions, as long as ‘Verín, which is the regional capital and has tourist and thermal promotion interests, has a presence at events and promotion forums such as Fitur or others where we can mutually take advantage of promotion synergies in a field where we share the interest of economic growth in our area».
Aware of all this, the Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin Monterrei has launched its campaign «Time of Godello», with which it aims to promote the positioning and identification of D.O. Monterrei wines through its emblematic grape, Godello grapes, and at a key moment for consumption: Christmas.
Monterrei: Land of Godello
This campaign stands out as the territory, located in the southeast of the province of Ourense, next to the river Támega, is bathed by the colors of wine, history and gastronomy. The archaeological remains found in the region, such as wineries, presses and vessels of Roman origin, show the strong roots of viticulture in Monterrei.
A historic viticulture, but with great projection of the future: the diversity of soils and microclimates on the slopes result in wines of distinctive character, differentiated and complex, which quickly gave great sound to the wines of its Designation of Origin, the youngest in Galicia, although with more than 2000 years of wine tradition.
In this area, the Godello grape is the most abundant white variety. In the vineyards of Monterrei we will see their clusters, small and compact, with early maturation. Godello D.O. Monterrei wines are very elegant, fruity, glyceric and full-bodied, made in wineries that combine tradition and modernity with a deep respect for the environment.
