This morning, the headquarters of the Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin Monterrei hosted the 2021 Harvest Qualification Tasting.
This tasting was attended by representatives of professional associations and the official panel of the denomination, who have qualified as “very good” the 2021 vintage of the wines of Monterrei. The tasting team highlighted: “In whites, the climatic conditions of the vintage have accelerated a vintage that has given more freshness to the wines and an aromatic complexity that goes beyond the fruit, with lots of flower, vegetable memories and minerality in the mouth. Regarding the reds, it dominates the fruit in the nose and in the mouth maintains a raciality, which reminds us that we are in an oceanic transition area, being wines to enjoy today and that we also hope to try in a few years in perfect condition”.
In order to evaluate the present harvest, a proportional representation of wines of the denomination has been submitted to the panel. These samples have been analyzed by each of the tasters, who have made a “blind” assessment of all of them, thus maintaining objectivity criteria as anonymous samples. The final note was obtained by calculating the mean of the scores awarded by each taster to each of the samples, including in this calculation both the references of whites and reds. Finally, this score has been moved to a correlation table where the harvest grade is obtained.
The tasting panel, which has been received by the president of the Regulatory Council Lara Da Silva, has been composed of the following experts:
