The territory covered by the Monterrei designation of origin has been visited by 17 international trainers, led by the Wine Scholar Guild, who have seen firsthand the area’s wine potential and the work done by the sector.
During the day, these trainers from different parts of Europe, America, Asia and Oceania have come to the wineries José Luis Mateo García (Quinta da Muradella) and Gargalo, where they have visited their vineyards, facilities, as well as discovering different wine elaborations. They also visited the castle of Monterrei and participated in a wine tunnel at the headquarters of the Regulatory Council, where they tasted whites and reds from the following wineries: Ladairo, Pazo das Tapias, Gargalo, José Antonio Da Silva Pereira (Vinos Lara), José Luis Mateo García (Quinta da Muradella), Crego e Monaguillo, Terras do Cigarrón, Fragas do Lecer, Vía Arxéntea, Pazo de Valdeconde, Tabú, Franco Basalo, Alba Al-Bar (Daniel Fernández), Trasdovento, Fausto Rivero Pardo (Quinta Soutullo) and Manuel Regueiro García (Serra de Alén).
The trainers involved in this initiative have been sido Victoria Aldwinckle (Kent Wine School), Helena Edgerton (Sydney Wine Academy), Pedro Fadanelli (Escola Celebrare Brazil), Caitlin Ferguson (Vinsanity/Cru Consultancy), Jessica Hue Williams (South London & West London Wine Schools), Ahyoung Jeong (Seoul School of Wine), Sylvia Liu (La Violette), Chris Martin (Wine Scholar Guild), Alberto Martinez Interiano (Wine & Spirit Archive, Cellar Muse), Simone Popov (San Francisco Wine School), Ryan Robinson (Brescome-Barton), Quentin Sadler (West London Wine School & WSG), Eric Sandberg (Texas Wine School), Nika Shevela (Berlin Wine School/Wine Alphabet), Jimmy Smith (West London Wine School), Rick Fisher (Wine Scholar Guild) and Jorge Vila (Galicia Wine Academy).
