This afternoon took place, at the headquarters of the Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin Monterrei, the constitutive session of the plenary of this body. Jonatás Gago García has been appointed as the new President of C.R.D.O. Monterrei.
This session was chaired by José Luis Cabarcos Corral, director of the Axencia Galega da Calidade Alimentaria (AGACAL), acting as secretary Natalia González Rodríguez. The plenary session began with the inauguration of the members elected and proclaimed by the Electoral Board. The director of AGACAL has been in charge of delivering the credentials to the members Lara Da Silva Rodríguez (representative of Wine Management, C.B.), Aníbal Blanco Núñez and Asunción Rodríguez Zarraquiños (representative of Viticultura Monterrey, S.L.). All of them by the production sector (Census A). In Census B (industrial) as a member of Subcenso B1 is Manuel Vázquez Losada, and already in Subcenso B2, Amadeo Salgado Cid (representative of Bodega Pazo de Valdeconde, S.L.) and José Fernando Boo Paradela (representative of Bodega Abeledos, S.L.). Finally, in the cooperative sector (Censo C), the credential was given to Miguel Ángel Tubio Fernández (representative of Terras do Cigarrón, S.L.).
The candidates for the presidency and vice-presidency were then put to the vote, with Jonatás Gago García and Manuel Vázquez Losada as President and Vice-President, respectively.
Jonatás Gago García holds a diploma in Early Childhood Education and a degree in Psychopedagogy (both from the University of Vigo); and a professor of Early Childhood Education, since 1999, at the María Inmaculada College in Verín. He will be the eighth person to preside over the entity. “I appreciate the support given by the wine sector to trust me for this position, and mainly, that of my wife who has encouraged me to accept it,” says the new president. It also indicates “that he faces the challenge with a lot of enthusiasm and commitment to Monterrei”.
