Activities for all at the XVII Monterrei Wine Fair

Commented tastings, popular games or showcookings are some of the activities planned in the framework of the XVII Monterrei Wine Fair, that will take place next weekend in the town of Verín.
The first of these activities will be ‘Elaboraciones, variedades y suelos de la D.O. Monterrei’. On Saturday 10 August at 13:00, and will be taught by David Pascual, President of the Galician Association of Enoloxia. In this initiative will be shown different winemaking supported by the D.O. Monterrei, The importance of varieties and soils.
On the same day, at 8 pm, will be performed ‘Symphony of flavors: harmony of wines of Monterrei, gastronomy and music’ with Begoña Vázquez (Best Galician Cook of the Year and responsible for O Regueiro da Cova), Miguel López (technical director of C.R.D.O. Monterrei) and José Manuel Salgado (professor at CMUS Verín). During this activity, participants will discover different culinary elaborations, paired with wines of the denomination, and accompanied by a small acoustic guitar concert.
On Sunday, 11, at 13 o’clock, will be organized the tasting ‘El Godello: typical and mysteries of the king of whites’. In this initiative, through a blind tasting, the characteristics of Godello de Monterrei, the differences with other wine-growing areas and the identity of this white variety will be taught. The work will be carried out by Juanjo Figueroa, President of the Galician Association of Sumilleres – AGASU.
To participate in any of these three activities, it will be necessary to formalize the registration in the e-mail info@domonterrei.com, as well as pay 5 euros participation fee. Places are limited and by strict order of registration. The events will be held in a space dedicated to this, located in the northern area of the Alameda park.
On the other hand, during 10 and 11 August, children will have activities specific to them. They will be held in the south of the Alameda park, between 20 and 22 hours, and will be made up of popular games such as frog, 3 en raya or tangram, among others. In this case, no prior registration is required.
