The last edition of the Monterrei Wine Fair has closed with historical figures, both in attendance and in bottles and tasting tickets sold.
During the three days, thousands of people visited the fairgrounds to see first-hand the wines produced in the appellation and to enjoy the activities scheduled for this wine event. “We are facing a fully consolidated event, which has become a meeting place for many tourists and visitors and that, year after year, attracts more public,” says the president of the Consello Regulador, Jonatás Gago García.
The scheduled tastings have covered all their places, “leaving many people on waiting list”, recalls the president, “which shows that it is a success to carry out initiatives of these characteristics, which have allowed us to show aspects such as varieties, for example the Godello, soils or culinary harmonies, among others”. The poster has also been hung in the children’s activities held in the square of Alameda, where the little ones of the house have been able to take part in traditional games such as 3 en raya, frog or tangram. As well as in the different musical performances, suitable for all audiences. “We are excited to see people of all ages at this fair, since our idea is to make the families participate in it, and feel that they are all part of the Monterrei project,” says Gago García.
With regard to tastings, the figures exceed 30,000, with a significant increase in the number of bottles sold, “participating wineries have indicated that this year they have sold more bottles than ever before”, says the president. “We must thank the involvement of the wineries and gastronomic stands, in addition to the collaboration of the Concello de Verín, and the workers who have participated in the organization of this event, as well as Group of Civil Protection Volunteers of Verín, Civil Guard or Local Police, among others”.
