This morning, the headquarters of the Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin Monterrei hosted the 2023 Harvest Qualification Tasting.
In this tasting have participated representatives of professional associations, restoration, vivinitícolas Regulatory Councils and the official panel of the denomination, which have qualified as “excellent” the vintage 2023 of the wines of Monterrei (the last time this score was achieved was with the 2016 vintage). This tasting team highlighted: “in whites, the diversity and complexity of the wines, despite maintaining an identity style, each of them marked different records within the floral, vegetable and fruit profiles characteristic of the Godello variety. Compared to the reds, it stands out an optimal ripening where fruit and spicy notes prevailed”.
In order to evaluate the present harvest, a proportional representation of wines of the denomination has been submitted to the panel. These samples have been analyzed by each of the tasters, who have made a “blind” assessment of all of them, thus maintaining objectivity criteria as anonymous samples. The final note was obtained by calculating the mean of the scores awarded by each taster to each of the samples, including in this calculation both the references of whites and reds. Finally, this score has been moved to a correlation table where the harvest grade is obtained.
