Guided tastings, showcookings and popular children’s games, activities parallel to the XVI Monterrei Wine Fair

A wide programme of activities, suitable for all audiences, will be followed during the days of the XVI Monterrei Wine Fair, with the aim of making this event an unmissable wine event.

In addition to the musical and cultural section, which will take place during the three days of the fair, it is also contemplated the realization of guided tastings and showcookings, for the adult public, as well as traditional activities for the children of the house.

The first of them will be ‘Introduction to the tasting of the wines of Monterrei’. It will be held on Saturday 12 August, from 13 hours, and aims to make a trip through the different styles of the denomination, where the public not only learns an idea of how to taste wines but also value the high level achieved in the wines of this protected territory, through the different varieties grown. This activity will be carried out by David Pascual, president of the Galician Association of Enoloxía since 2021, graduated in enology and technical director of a Galician winery.

That same day, but already at 20.30, will take place the activity ‘Showcooking of Begoña Vázquez (O Regueiro da Cova) and tasting-harmony with wines of the D.O. Monterrei (Miguel López, technical director do C.R.D.O. Monterrei)’. In it, attendees will discover different culinary elaborations that will be paired with white and red wines of the denomination, which will allow them to experience different sensations and textures enogastronomic.

On Sunday, at 13 hours, the activity ‘Ambassadors of Monterrei’ will be organized. It is aimed at all kinds of people curious about the world of wine, and will seek to shelling and value wines of the denomination, mentioning varieties, soils and climates. It will be taught by Juanjo Figueroa, president of the Galician Association of Sommeliers – AGASU, as well as sommelier trained at the Galician Institute of Viño, trainer in the same center for ten years, and organizer of different events to revalue Galician wine throughout the national geography.

To participate in any of these three activities it will be necessary to formalize the registration in the email info@domonterrei.com, as well as paying 5 euros of participation fee. Places are limited and in strict order of registration. The same will be done in a space enabled for it, located in the north area of the park of the Alameda.

On the other hand, and already for the children, during the days of 12 and 13 August, the interior of the Alameda will also serve as a stage for the realization of popular games such as 3 in a row, aerial billiards, tangram or frog, among others. No prior registration is required, and the children’s area will be established in the southern area of the park.
