The mayor verinense, Gerardo Seoane Fidalgo, wanted to make a public appeal to neighbors/ as and visitors “so that they can come to the village of Támega, on the dates on which the Fair is held and enjoy the excellent wines of Monterrei, as well as the complete cultural and gastronomic offer of which it is undoubtedly, one of the most important and most popular events in Verín and the region”.
This appointment will be held again, as has been usual in past editions, in the Plaza de la Alameda. Agenda of events
Culture, gastronomy, music and wine will join for another year in the framework of the Monterrei Wine Fair, which will include various parallel activities for adults and children. They will be held in the Plaza Mayor and inside the Alameda Park, throughout the days of 11, 12 and 13 August.
While for children/ as are provided popular children’s games, in the evening, for the adult public are contemplated tastings and showcookings, for which a prior registration is necessary. They are scheduled on Saturday morning and afternoon, and on Sunday 13 only in the morning. Throughout this week will be announced the people in charge of teaching, schedules and how to register.
As confirmed by the concelleira de Cultura y Festejos, Samanta Barreira, there will also be a complete musical program specially prepared for the enjoyment of all audiences. “With a careful selection of six varied proposals, this year we have worked hard to create an exceptional repertoire that satisfies the tastes of all the people who accompany us in this unique event”.
On Friday 11, from 20:00 hours, the Concello de Verín Bagpipe Band will liven up the official opening ceremony with its live music. Already in the evening, at 00:00 on Saturday 12, it will be the turn of the tribute band to Los Secretos, the mythical Spanish pop-rock group, which will vibrate the public with its most emblematic songs.
On Saturday 12, the music will continue to be the protagonist, with live entertainment between 13:00 and 14:00 hours, which will liven up the atmosphere in the fairgrounds. In the afternoon, between 20:00 and 22:00 hours, a traditional charanga will tour the entire fair grounds, encouraging attendees with its varied and festive repertoire. Already in the early hours of Sunday 13, at 1:00 hours, the stage of Plaza García Barbón will host the concert of The Rapants, an indie band and garage formed in Muros in 2018, which brings freshness to the Galician music scene with animated and live themes full of energy.
On Sunday 13, the last day of the fair, we will again have musical entertainment by the hand of a traditional band, between 13:00 and 14:00 hours, in fairgrounds. And to close the event, nothing better than enjoying the show of Fillas de Cassandra, a Galician musical duo -which takes its name from Greek mythology- formed by María Pérez (MaríaSOA) and Sara Faro, who bases their music on the musical and oral tradition, feminism and the most modern and avant-garde sounds. His emotive and casual compositions manage to connect with an intergenerational audience with a feminist activism, taking him on a journey between the present and the past with the heroines of classical mythology as protagonists. This final concert, which closes this edition of the Wine Fair will be at 00:00 am on Monday, August 14.
