his Saturday, October 22, the surroundings of the castle of Monterrei will host the ‘I Festa da Vendima da Vila de Monterrei’, intended to extol the importance of the wine sector in the economy, culture and heritage of the region of Monterrei.
This morning was presented by the President of the Deputation of Ourense, Manuel Baltar, the president of C.R.D.O. Monterrei, Lara Da Silva, the mayor of Monterrei, José Luis Suárez, and the territorial delegate of the Xunta in Ourense, Gabriel Alén.
The first edition of this fun, cultural and wine event will have an extensive program of activities suitable for all audiences. There is a market for agri-food products, which will be present different products such as honey, cheese, chestnuts, sausages or preserves, among others. In addition to a space of the D.O. Monterrei, in which you can taste the wine of the following participating wineries: Ladairo, Pazos del Rey, Pazo das Tapias, Gargalo, José Luis Gómez Ibáñez, José Antonio Da Silva Pereira (Vinos Lara), Crego e Monaguillo, Quinta do Buble, Terras do Cigarrón, Triay Adegas de Oímbra, Terrae Monterrei, Pazo Blanco Núñez (Tapias Mariñán), Fragas do Lecer, Manuel Guerra Justo (Vía Arxéntea), Abeledos, Pazo de Valdeconde, Tabú, Franco Basalo, Alba Al-Bar (Daniel Fernández), Trasdovento, Fausto Rivero Pardo (Quinta Soutullo), Manuel Vázquez Losada and Manuel Regueiro García.
This festival will also feature a Folión de carros (from 12.30 pm), traditional grape tread (it comes from the vineyard that has the Inorde in the environment of the fortress) or children’s activities. In addition to a Foliada in charge of the folk ranch S. Tiago (Mirandela), E.D. Castro Floxo (Ourense), Gaiteiros de Flariz and Os Trouleiros de Medeiros. The end to the event will be, from 17 hours, with the concert of Brañas Folk.
This wine exaltation also includes a tasting of roasted pork and D.O. Monterrei wines. The price is 5 euros, and tickets can be purchased in advance at the Monterrei Council, Monterrei Tourist Office, Tien21 and Sala Todo Fitness. They can also be purchased on the day of the event in a position enabled for that purpose.
During the presentation of the ‘I Festa da Vendima da Vila de Monterrei’, the president of the Regulatory Council recalled that this initiative coincides with the celebration of the Day Movement Wine D.O., which is commemorated in 36 wine denominations across the country, and to which has also been added the Monterrei. Therefore, will also be held at 13.30 hours a collective toast “to which we invite to join winemakers, winemakers and residents of the region”, highlights Lara Da Silva, which took advantage of his speech not only to outline the planned activities but also to thank the “Council of Monterrei, Deputation of Ourense and General Direction of Gandaria, Agriculture and Agro-food Industries to make possible a party that will revive the harvests of before, in which family and friends gathered, and ending with a meal of brotherhood, where anecdotes and good moments were shared”.
