The C.R.D.O. Monterrei will participate, one more year, in the Fair of the Lazarus, which will take place this weekend in the municipal pavilion of sports of Verín.
This edition, the designation of origin will promote the organization of a Wine Tunnel, which will include references to 22 of the 27 wineries that make up Monterrei. In this space, attendees will be able to know and taste the wines that are made in this protected territory, as well as receive information about the history of the same, peculiarities of climate and soil, wine tradition or grape varieties, among other issues.
The hours of operation of this tunnel will be from 10 to 14 and from 16 to 20 hours, and will be attended by technicians and the president of the Regulatory Council, Lara Da Silva; as well as the sommelier Marina Cruces, runner-up in the years 2009 and 2011 of the Galician Championship of Sommeliers.
To enter it you will need to purchase a drink and a ticket to the Tunnel (two euros cup and ticket for a value of five euros). The wineries that will be present in this initiative are: Trasdovento, Pazo das Tapias, Abeledos, Ladairo, Pazo de Valdeconde, Tabú, Alba Al-Bar (Daniel Fernández), Castro de Lobarzán, Crego e Monaguillo, Fausto Rivero Pardo (Quinta Soutullo), Fragas do Lecer, Franco Basalo, Gargalo, José Antonio Da Silva Pereira (Vinos Lara), José Luis Gómez Ibáñez (Valderello), Manuel Guerra Justo (Vía Arxéntea), Manuel Vázquez Losada, Pazo Blanco Núñez (Tapias Mariñán), Quinta do Buble, Terrae Monterrei, Terras do Cigarrón and Triay Adegas de Oímbra.
“The participation in this fair allows us to bring the product protected under our seal of quality to our nearest consumer,” says the president, “in addition to resuming our promotional actions in the region, reinforcing the link between producer and consumer. It is always rewarding to return home, and meet our own, we also hope it will be the prelude to the next Monterrei Wine Fair”.
Wine tasting pairing of the D.O. Monterrei
In the framework of the celebration of the Fair of the Lazarus, it is also planned to hold on Sunday, at 13 hours, a tasting pairing of wines of the denomination. It will also take place in the municipal sports pavilion of Verín, and will be taught by the technical director of the Regulatory Council, Miguel López, and sommelier Marina Cruces.
